Summer Vacation

Who remembers a good old summer vacation

Which now lies to rest in our imagination

Of good times that we had and places we want to go

Way back when, when the good times did flow

Now we are stuck at a deskĀ  at our occupation

Making money just to dream about other parts of the nation

Does it make sense to work every day of the year

not at all but we’re driven by fear

That we wont have that vacation that we always dreamed of

when we retire at the age of 65 or above.

Let me tell you a secret you might not know

even if you can retire at 65, the vacation will probably never show

So do yourself a favor and give yourself a break

take off a week and sit by the lake

enjoy the time you have now and forget about when you retire

because retiring in 40 years is not something to aspire

If you enjoyed this poem please consider buying me a beer. Thanks.
